Dean Johnson, the school yard bully splashed muddy water over Cathy Carlson's beautiful yellow dress her first day of school. David Perkins walked her home so her mother could change her dress.

Twelve years later Dean is blamed for David and Cathy's mysterious deaths. After an intense “man-hunt”, Dean is caught and hauled off to jail. As much as Dean is guilty of bad behavior, the question remains, was their deaths an accident or deliberate? If deliberate, is Dean the killer? When Dean escapes from jail, understandably fear spreads throughout Jimmy’s home town.

Can’t Stop It, the movie is based on actual events. Shooting begins in North Carolina in the spring of 2026. If you would like to be considered for one of the fifty roles in the movie, work behind the cameras, or provide a product or service to the production company please tell us here.

In the opening scene of the movie, all the members of The Rhythm Kings are walking with Jimmy Rogers down the High School corridor. They are congratulating Jimmy for taking top honors in the Statesville Chronicles Creative Writing Contest.

Jimmy is surrounded by Bob Bryant, Jr., plays guitar; Degamo Williams, plays bass guitar; Paul Donaldson, the drummer; Henry Flowers, plays keyboards; Lenny Goldstein, plays sax and David Perkins (Jimmy’s cousin and founder of The Rhythm Kings), plays lead guitar. All members of the band sing.

The High School janitor, Jediah Hudson is helping new kid Carlos Rodreguez figure out why his locker will not open. Dean Johnson and his gang are harassing Jediah and making cruel insinuations about Jediah’s guilt or innocence for a crime Jediah recently was released from the State Penitentiary after serving ten years.

A recurring theme in the movie focuses on the question of his guilt or innocence. Hearing “Love You More Than Ever”, sung by his wife Victoria Hudson will convince you she certainly does not believe her man could have ever committed the rape and murder of a white teenager.

To know the truth, you’ll have to see the movie, Can’t Stop It.

In this first episode of the Jimmy Rogers Chronicles, David and his girlfriend Cathy Carlson die mysteriously from drinking anti-freeze. They thought it was Crème DeMenthe because both are green.

The deaths of David and Cathy is the first of three reversals in the movie that send the main character, Jimmy Rogers spiraling down to where Jediah finds him jumping off the top railing of the Langford Bridge.

Will Jediah get to him in time to save him? See the movie.

In the movie, Dean sings “Never Forsaken” a song that is born out of his “Come to Jesus” experience he had while in jail.

Following quickly after the sad news about David and Cathy, Jimmy learns that the Langford Factory where he has a part time job has burned to the ground. Later that same day he finds his girlfriend Marie Scappelli in the arms of another.

Is Jimmy’s father Red Rogers right, is “life a cruel joke, barely worth living?”

See the movie.

Red has felt this way ever since, in his own Senior year in High School, Red’s Father was killed in an automobile accident while looking for Red. Red was blamed for the death of his own Father.

Jimmy is wrestling with life’s paramount decision. Whether to live life with a sense of hope and optimism or to live life void of hope and purpose, one filled with tragedy and despair.

Up to this point in the movie, Jimmy has tried to walk two paths simultaneously. The positive one, as represented by his mother Esther Rogers and the negative take on life as represented by his father’s dim outlook.

If Jimmy takes the wrong path, we will never uncover the mystery behind the deaths of David and Cathy. Which path will Jimmy choose?

See the movie.
