Henry “Bud” Flowers is an Asian American who sings and plays keyboards for The Rhythm Kings, Jimmy Rogers first band.

His mother Cleo is a classically trained symphony player. His father toured in a USO band during WW2. That's how Cleo met Frank Flowers. Bud is the person most responsible for Jimmy's technical knowledge of music.

Bud has studied martial arts since a child and is a 3rd degree black belt. He is also an electronic wizard and helps Jimmy develop his own unique sound. Bud becomes one of the early pioneers of the computer industry.

It was Cleo that introduced Henry to the piano when he was three years old. Although Henry can play most of the classical pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Shubert, Mozart, and Debussy (his favorite), etc. Henry really loves to play in the style of Pinetop Pekins, Johnnie Johnson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, and Dwight Brock.

Henry actually has trained in the Martial Arts for as long as he has studied piano. His father Frank Flowers, concerned that focusing exclusively on training his “fingers” would not prepare Henry to be able to take care of himself in what can be a tough world. Frank enrolled Henry in the first taekwondo school to open in Statesville, NC. Henry took to it as quickly as he did the piano. He excelled at competitive martial arts in the regional tournaments that became increasingly popular during Henry’s teen years.

Can’t Stop It, the movie is based on actual events. Shooting begins in North Carolina in the spring of 2026. If you would like to be considered for one of the fifty roles in the movie, work behind the cameras, or provide a product or service to the production company please tell us here.

In the opening scene of the movie, all the members of The Rhythm Kings are walking with Jimmy Rogers down the High School corridor. They are congratulating Jimmy for taking top honors in the Statesville Chronicles Creative Writing Contest. Jimmy is surrounded by Henry, Bob Bryant, Jr., plays guitar, Degamo Williams, plays bass guitar, David Perkins (Jimmy’s cousin and founder of The Rhythm Kings), plays lead guitar, Paul Donaldson, the drummer, and Lenny Goldstein, sax player. All members of the band sing.

In Can’t Stop It, the movie, Henry sings “My Love Was Born” for his girlfriend Cynthia Tedowski.

This coming of age/murder mystery is told in present time by Aaron Rizzer (a/k/a Professor Remember). As the founder of Professor Remember’s Roadhouse & Bakery Cafe, calls on Statesville area business associates, he loves to play his favorite music station because it often plays The Rhythm King’s songs. Listening causes, the Professor to recall events he witnessed when Jimmy Rogers first joined the band. The “Kings” were formed by Jimmy’s cousin and best friend David Perkins.

When the guys realized a six piece band (seven when Carlos Rodreguez joins), needed a place to practice, Lenny made a deal with the Professor to perform a free gig once a week in exchange for the use of the basement at Professor Remembers Roadhouse.

In episode one, David and his girlfriend Cathy Carlson die mysteriously from drinking anti-freeze. They thought it was Crème DeMenthe because both are green.

The deaths of David and Cathy is the first of three reversals in the movie that send Jimmy spiraling down a hole to where Jediah Hudson finds him jumping off the top railing of the Langford Bridge.

Will Jediah get to him in time to save him? See the movie.

Following quickly after the sad news about David and Cathy, Jimmy learns that the Langford Factory where he has a part time job has burned to the ground. Later that same day he finds his girlfriend Marie Scappelli in the arms of another.

Is Jimmy’s father Red Rogers right, is “life a cruel joke, barely worth living?”

See the movie.

Red has felt this way ever since, in his own Senior year in High School, Red’s Father was killed in an automobile accident while looking for Red. Red was blamed for the death of his own Father.

Up to this point in the movie, Jimmy has tried to walk the line between his mother Esther Rogers‘ optimistic view and his father’s dim outlook on life. Which path will Jimmy choose?

See the movie.
